Information we collect

We collect account and contact details, verification and security information, poll activity, and information you supply about your work or organization. Creator setup asks for your name, industry, country, and research purpose; organizations also provide their name and size. Audience, research frequency, response volume, website, support preferences, and alternate billing contacts are optional. We record the terms version and acceptance date.

Why we use it

We use this information to provide creator access, manage team membership, verify payments, support your research, improve the service, and investigate misuse or payment problems. Authorized staff can view customer details, setup progress, and subscription payment records to support customers. Optional product updates are separate from account, billing, and security messages.

Poll activity and Trending

We measure visible poll cards, poll views, and submissions to identify polls gaining attention on web and mobile. Signed-in activity uses a hashed account identifier; anonymous web activity uses a browser-session identifier. Network addresses are hashed for rate limiting and are not stored as raw addresses in these analytics. Detailed attention events are retained for 30 days and daily totals for 90 days. Authorized administrators can inspect activity totals and adjust Trending settings; public rankings do not expose viewer identities.

Payments and service providers

Paystack processes subscription payments and payment-method updates. CivicPolls keeps payment references, amounts, dates, and subscription status; we do not store your full card number or card security code. Hosting, email, file storage, and other service providers process information needed to deliver the service.

Workspace visibility

Team members can access the polls and membership information their organization makes available to them. Owners and administrators manage invitations and the organization’s billing. Poll responses and published results are used according to the poll’s features and visibility. Avoid placing unnecessary personal or confidential information in a poll or optional profile field.

Your choices and requests

You can update creator details and optional product-update preferences in Workspace settings. Contact [email protected] to ask about access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of optional consent. We may need to verify your identity and retain records needed for payment reconciliation, security, disputes, or applicable obligations. Our support team can explain what applies to your request.

Security and storage

We use account verification, access controls, and payment verification to protect information. Keep your credentials private and report suspected account misuse to support. Your sign-in session and saved setup use browser storage; authenticated setup progress is also saved to your account so you can continue on another device.
